October 24, 2006

Hi! I am Katlynn Mueller with the Studio 4 report.
Today is Tuesday, October 24, 2006.
To start our day, we have our Morning Meeting Game. Today’s game is Vocabulary Challenge. For those viewers who do not know how this game works, here is how to play. Mr. Villasana chooses a vocabulary victim to sit in front of the WHOLE class. The victim then chooses a person from the class to say a word that is in the vocabulary binder. The victim then is expected to give a correct definition of the word. If you can not give the correct definition then you must sit down and the person that gave the vocabulary word must then give the definition and sit in the seat. Today I escaped the hot seat. Phew!

Next it was time to write and write and write and write some more! But today was special! Our class is preparing to publish all their stories. So everyone is either writing or typing and definitely NOT talking. We were working our fingers to the bones.

Before we knew it, it was time for reading. Today was different because we had a substitute. He was a big, strong guy. I think his name was Mr. Kenny and he was a football player for Mizzou. Reading went as planned even with Mr. V not there, but some of us had trouble figuring out how to sit and the location of our seats!

Finally, Mr. V. came back to class and it was time for read aloud. Read Aloud seems like the longest part of the day. We are reading this awesome book named Fair Weather. The story is about a family the lives on a farm and is invited by their grandmother to come to the big city, San Francisco and go to the fair. The family is trying to figure out what to wear, how to act and what is expected. Their grandmother is filthy rich and lives in a mansion all by herself except for her servants.
I could go on and on about the story but I would run out of space. Let’s just say Read Aloud is almost everyone’s favorite part of the day.

Last but not least, Math. Today’s math topic was clocks and word problems. For example, problem - I started this report at 5:00 p.m. and it is now 8:51 p.m. What does this mean for our reporter who is still working. Answer - I have spent too much time thinking, writing, typing and whining. Our at least that what my Mom says. So with my mom yelling that it is time for bed, this report is over. Cut.
