New Haven Elementary School opened in 1956 and was part of the Boone County R-II School District. At its opening, New Haven enrolled 148 students in grades 1-8. In 1980, New Haven became part of the Columbia Public Schools system and for the 1992-93 school year, the school mascot was changed from the Warriors to the Stars. The 2013-14 enrollment at New Haven is 306.

Today, New Haven prides itself on being a community of learners that partners with children and their families. We value parent involvement, cultural diversity, and celebrating the rich history that founded New Haven Elementary. New Haven is a school steeped in the traditions of celebrating and honoring our veterans, promoting character development, and hosting community events such as our yearly sock-hop.
