“The Brunch Bunch”

The Social Studies department at Jefferson Jr. High School is committed to expanding opportunities for our students to learn more about their community, civic duties, and future occupations. To achieve this, the 8th grade Social Studies team has developed a series of informal education and instructional meetings called “The Brunch Bunch”.

The objectives of this program are to:

1. Promote community involvement.
2. Increase student civic awareness.
3. Model the importance of learning basic academic skills.
4. Motivate our students to be responsible, independent learners.
5. Build a positive relationship with our diverse student population.

We have enlisted assistance for this program in the form of guest speakers to help students visualize the real-world applications on their academic endeavors. By sharing their thoughts, experiences, and special skills we hope to show our students the importance of learning and becoming active participants in the greater community.
