Guidelines for Intradistrict High School Transfers

General Requirements

  • Transfers to Hickman and Rock Bridge high schools will be considered for ninth, tenth, and eleventh graders, with upperclassmen given priority. No transfers will be considered during a student's eighth-grade year.
  • Transfer requests to Hickman and Rock Bridge must be filed with the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education by March 1. Decisions on transfers will be made after May 31 and after both schools have completed pre-enrollment. Parents will be notified by mail.
  • Siblings of students who are enrolled at Hickman and Rock Bridge must follow the same transfer procedure as other students. They will not be granted automatic transfers.
  • Children of Hickman or Rock Bridge faculty and staff will be given highest priority for transferring if the request is made prior to March 1.
  • Recommendations from physicians, psychiatrists, and psychologists to allow certain students to transfer will be considered by a transfer committee, but not automatically granted.
  • If a student starts his or her high school career at one school and later moves into the other attendance area, he or she will be allowed to remain at the original school. Completion of the transfer request form will still be required.
  • Student behavior and attendance concerns may have an impact on the initial and continued acceptance of a transfer.
  • Other transfers may be granted for highly unusual reasons. The decisions on these requests will be made by the transfer committee. This committee will be very restrictive in the type of transfers it grants.

Under MSHSAA regulations, any high school or junior high student who chooses to attend a school other than the school in his/her home attendance area shall be eligible only at the sub-varsity level in all sports for 365 days from the date of transfer approval.

Hickman Requirements

  • The number of transfers allowed to Hickman will be determined by subtracting the number of pre-enrolled students at Hickman from 2,100.
  • If necessary, transfers granted will be determined by lottery.
