Testing for Home Schooled Students in Columbia Public Schools

Guidelines for Parents

Students who reside in the Columbia School District and who are home schooled are eligible to participate in the Columbia Public Schools' standardized testing program according to the following guidelines:

  1. Columbia Public Schools conducts standardized testing of students each year as described in its Assessment Plan. Parents of home schooled students may use that document to obtain information about the administration of standardized tests in the school district.
  2. Parents must notify the school district Office of Research, Assessment, and Accountability in September that they would like their child to take one or more standardized test(s) during that school year. This would include MAP, PLAN, and EXPLORE.
  3. The Office of Research, Assessment, and Accountability will inform schools of home schooled students who will participate in testing that year.
  4. It is the parents' responsibility to contact the school to learn the specific testing dates and times.
  5. The parent must provide transportation to the school.
  6. The Office of Research, Assessment, and Accountability will communicate score report information to the parents of home schooled students who participate in standardized testing.
