Uncle Tupelo : 89/93 - An Anthology

Genre: Alt-Country

Dates: 1989-1993

Inspired equally by the punk bursts of the Minutemen and the deadpan, Depression-era folk of the Carter Family, Uncle Tupelo helped spark an alternative scene for a modified country sound that even took its name from their first album, No Depression, to describe it. Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar moved on after the band's split in 1993 to create new bands (Wilco and Sonvolt) that continue to innovate musically, and this collection of spans the life of a band that gave new insight into American music.
