Tom Robinson Band: Power in the Darkness

Genre: Punk

It’s high time for a rediscovery—or at least an appreciation—of Tom Robinson. One of the first openly gay figures is rock and roll history, he made his inroads during the British punk rock explosion, the democracy of which helped, but a thoughtful listening to his debut album will confirm that a) the band rocked out; b) Robinson could turn a piquant lyrics; and c) the catchiness factor leaves most rock and roll outfits in the dust.
