If you couldn't get enough of The Anthology of American Folk Music (or are intimidated by its massive size), here's a neat little companion volume that'll tell you whether you're ready to advance to the big leagues. Features: the original "Dark Holler" (a favorite Grateful Dead cover nugget); "Darling Cora," which is still a staple of bluegrass jams nationwide; "Charles Giteaux," about the assassination of President Garfield; and wild man Uncle Dave Macon's version of the John Henry story, highly recommended to students who attended the Drive-By Truckers show in the Little Theatre and heard their version.
