OutKast: Aquemini
Genre: Rap Dates: 1998

Long about 2004, The South had risen again to take over the world of rap. The battle cry was sounded here. Strange thing about these ATLiens: their eccentricities didn't keep them from chart conquest. Weirdness is usually anathema to chart success when it comes to hip hop, and through the following three albums, they haven't become any less idiosyncratic, though Idlewild is seen by some (not me) as a chink in their armor. Pick to click: "Rosa Parks," which drew legal action for no good reason from its namesake.
