Neil Young and Crazy Horse: Rust Never Sleeps |
Genre: Rock and Roll/ Folk |
Dates: 1979 |
One side of acoustic ruminations on the shaky state of the American experiment (opening with a nod to the Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten, who had called for the destruction of rock and roll), one side of desperate tales of human beings on the margins, slammed home by layers of barely-controlled electric guitar. If the Stones' Let It Bleed summed up the Sixties, this comes awfully close to doing the same for the Seventies. Recommended to students of creative writing: "Thrasher," one of the most fascinating extended metaphors in the history of the music.
