The Mothers of Invention: We're Only In It for the Money |
Genre: Progressive/Satiric Rock and Roll |
Dates: 1967 |
From its cover art (a parody of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) to its outlook ('60s America as huckster's paradise) to its music (made to honor bandleader Frank Zappa's hero Edgard Varese, who felt pure pleasure was counterrevolutionary), this record was the Bizarro World version of the Beatles' conquest. Inspirational Verse, in doo wop form: "What's the ugliest/part...of your body?/I think it's your mind!"
