Led Zeppelin : IV (ZOSO)

Genre: Hard Rock/ Metal

Dates: 1971

"Hey hey mama/Like the way you move/Gonna make you sweat/Gonna make you groove!" So begins one of the few hard rock records to deliver on that implied (and now hopelessly clichéd) promise of total satisfaction. Drums? HUGE. Guitars? Plugged or unplugged, ALL THE WAY THERE. Vocals? FREAKED OUT. Personally, I can't listen to "Stairway to Heaven" anymore, unless I fast-forward to the rockin' part and skip the oh-so-sensitive final line. But the rest, simply speaking, is THE ROCK. All music attempting to kick butt since owes these limeys a debt. Shame on them, though, for not crediting "When the Levee Breaks" to the fabulous guitarist and blues singer Memphis Minnie.
