Jimmy Reed : The Very Best of Jimmy Reed -- Blues Masters

Genre: Blues

Dates: 1953-1963

The blues don’t get any more laid-back addictive than Reed’s. The man supposedly could barely play and needed his wife to whisper lyrics in his ear at sessions, but if you look at the rapport of the early bands of guys like Jagger, Clapton, Page, and Townshend, they were chock full of his songs. Come to think of it, if you’ve ever seen the legendary Elvis Presley 1968 Comeback Special, the King and his band just can’t quit playing “Baby What You Want Me to Do.” So check this out, get out your guitar or harmonica or both, and learn a few. Another case study in the inadequacy of sheer technique in creating great communal art, folks. See also: Hound Dog Taylor.
