John Anderson : Greatest Hits |

|
Genre: Country |
Dates: 1980s |
Before Dwight Yoakam, George Strait, and Randy Travis, Anderson sparked the "new traditionalist" movement in country music. Unafraid of corn, novelty, flat-out rock and roll, or deep tragedy—and still vital in the 21st century—he used the warmest tenor twang since Lefty Frizzell to storm the charts repeatedly in the 1980s. Inspirational Verse (from "Black Sheep"): "I drive a big ol' semi-truck/I'm makin' payments on a two-room shack/My wife, she waits on tables/And at night she rubs my back/I tell her what my papa said to my mama/When he got off a highball train:/ 'Wake me up early, be good to my dogs, and teach my children to pray.'" If that sounds good to you, check this out soon.
