Husker Du: Zen Arcade

Genre: Punk Rock

Dates: 1984

A punk rock concept album about an '80s kid alone in the world, heart ripped out by lost love and brain addled by modern "civilization." No guitar has ever filled the speakers like Bob Mould's, and few singers have ever yelled with as much pain and empathy as Mould and drummer Grant Hart. The album comes to a crashing close with "Turn On the News," which features the following inspirational verse: "If there's one thing that I can't explain/It's why the world has to have so much pain/With all these ways of communicatin'/We can't get in touch with who we’re hatin'…."
