The Gories: I know you fine, but how you doin’?

Genre: Punk

This is punk-rock R&B out of the wreckage of Detroit: two guits, drums, primitive vocs—and that’s all folks. Of special historical note is lead vocalist and guitarist Mick Collins, one of the few African American front men in punk (or garage rock, if you want to call it that). If you are familiar with The Cramps, here’s the soul version.

Dates: 1988
