Doors: The Best of the Doors |
Genre: Rock and Roll |
Dates: 1966-1971 |
After Dylan and the Stones opened rock's chamber door to art, Jim Morrison rushed in to cast shadows upon its walls. Many since have declared it a space in which angels would fear to tread, but for a time, along with the Velvet Underground and the Mothers of Invention (see below), the Doors offered a piquant alternative to counterculture optimism. This collection nicely trims the hokum and bad poetry from the band's recorded legacy.
