Voted greatest album of all-time by Rolling Stone a few years ago, it ain't that good. But it is truly fascinating in capturing the Mop Tops in transition between their roots-rock-and-rollin' early years and their experimental forays in the midst of the crazed last half-decade of the Sixties. Perhaps the coolest thing about this album is the abundance of great, relatively obscure songs: the Buddy Holly-goes-postmodern "Here, There, and Everywhere," the addictively laid-back "I'm Only Sleeping" (a sure shot for students who hate first hour classes), the prophetic (i. e. ANTI-Summer of Love/hippie utopianism) "She Said She Said," and the sublime "And Your Bird Can Sing"—perhaps the most totally realized, euphonious recording they ever made. Dig the key change 2/3rds of the way in; it's enough to raise the short hairs on your neck
