Kathleen Hanna (now of Le Tigre) is a frat boy’s worst nightmare: the distaff Johnny Rotten, with the raging hormones of Polly Harvey and the attitude (if not the M.O.) of Valerie Solanis. (Forgive me for overreferencing, kiddos, but if you’ll hit Wikipedia or something you’ll see what I mean). This is BK’s first, and it gets out of the gate quickly: the “double dare” is for shy chicks to take up psychological and idealogical arms (“You/Do/Have/RIGHTS!!!!!”). Elsewhere, look out for one of the greatest punk rock songs of all-time (the Joan Jett-produced single’s better, but this’ll do just fine), “Rebel Girl,” climaxing with this fantastic line: “They say/She’s the queen of the neighborhood/I got news for you/SHE IS!!!!!!!!!!”
