Welcome back to school. I hope you are settling into your classes well, especially the AP classes. We have been in school for a couple of weeks now, so I hope you have gotten those final kinks worked out of your schedule and are attending those classes you desired to take.

KAPPA is planning to make a few changes this year in the interest of providing more support for students enrolled in AP courses and for being a forum where students may express their concepts for how to best make everyone success in AP exams and in class.

I hope you all will help us in our endeavors to improve KAPPA this year and for years to come. We will enjoy your support.

This is going to be an exciting year for all of us.

p.s. On Thursday the 6th of September we would like everyone who has a KAPPA T-shirt to where it in order to increase awareness of KAPPA with the incoming sophomores as well as for juniors and senior whom did not take an AP class last year.

Congratulations to seniors on their graduation and taking another big step and to KAPPA’s sophomores and juniors for completing another school year and at least one more AP course.

For those of you anxious to find out the results of your AP exam(s), you should expect to receive them in the mail sometime in late July.

Weather you are relieved that they will soon be over or frightened by the potentially daunting task ahead of you, it’s that time of year and AP tests are here.

If you are unsure of when your AP test is, check out the calendar or the College Board website.  Your AP teacher or Guidance should provide all of the information you need, such as where to go or what to bring for the test.

There will be a previously unscheduled KAPPA meeting Tomorrow Tuesday, March 6, after school in KV1. Everyone is welcome, but attendance is not mandatory. However, if you are interested in having a leadership position in KAPPA next year, we strongly encourage you to attend.

In case you’re not someone who checks his or her email or the KAPPA website on a regular basis, but uses Facebook, we’ve created a Facebook group where we’ll post announcements.  Here’s the link to the find the group so that you can join: http://www.facebook.com/groups/384391021574970.

As a new form of communication for KAPPA members, we plan to text important announcements to you if you’d like to receive them.  If you’d like to receive KAPPA texts, please email your name, cellphone number with area code, and your carrier (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) to Nathan Wikle (nathan@wikle.us).  You will be able to stop the messages at any time.

The registration forms for 2012 AP exams are out.  If you have not yet received one, ask one of your AP teachers or guidance.  Each student needs to only fill out one form with each test that they wish to take marked.  A deposit of $15 per exam is due with the form and the remaining $72 per exam is due on the day of the exam.  Get your forms in!

The Media Center will be closed next Tuesday, February 7 for the AMC test.  There will be no study session in the Media Center that morning.

Today’s meeting has been rescheduled for this Friday after school in KV-1.  Feel free to stop by and give any input you’d like.  Topics on the meeting agenda include calendar submissions and study sessions, mentor/mentee program, curriculum night, the AP showcase, and the end of the year party.  We will discuss anything else that you would like to, so come and join us!
