Derby Ridge Dragons

learn all about taking care of books.

Click on the book worm for your own copy of a Microsoft Word Document with pictures Ms.Suby used to talk to the kindergarten about taking care of their library books when they take them home.

She cut the pictures out, pasted them on construction paper and then laminated them.  Here's what she did with them:

1.  She held up two pictures at a time and said a rule about book care.  The students raised their hands to guess which picture she was talking about.  Then, one student was chosen to come up, show the correct picture to the class and remember the rule.  She went through all the rules this way.
2.  Then, she mixed all the pictures up and laid them face down.  The students who didn't get to come up the first time got to come up one at a time and draw from the pile.  They showed the class the picture and remembered what rule it stood for.
Click on the hand for a copy of the letter each student took home.  The letter was printed on both sides of the paper.  On one side was a letter to the parents and on the other is a copy of the same pictures the students had studied in class.  They explained them to their parents and brought the signed letter back to school.  Then they got to check out their book take it home!
Click on the backpack to get a copy of the bookmarks Ms. Suby has been sending home with the WHOLE SCHOOL to help them remember to get their library books back to school.
