Community Relations

The Columbia Public Schools Community Relations Department serves to enhance the education of all Columbia students by developing and coordinating educational partnerships involving the entire Columbia Public Schools system and the Columbia community.  The department manages the district's Partners In Education, Volunteer Programs, Community Relations and Communications.  The department also highlights community involvement within the school district, strengthening relationships and connecting business and community resources to schools.

About Partners In Education

Michelle Baumstark  

The Partners In Education program began in 1984 with 11 charter partners.

The Partnership Friends program began in 1992 with 3 friends.

In 2006-07 there were 138 Partners and 113 Partnership Friends.

Partners In Education began a new initiative last year called Focus on Achievement. The goal is to demonstrate the effect the community can have on student achievement through measurable objectives and outcomes.
