Board of Education Vacancy
Applicants
Due to the
resignation of Board of Education member Rosie Tippin, a vacancy exists
on the Columbia Board of Education. Applications are being sought from
individuals interested in serving on the Board until April 2010, at
which time the person appointed to fill the vacancy may opt to run for
reelection for an additional year. In April 2011, which is the
expiration date of Ms. Tippin's term, an election will be held for a
regular three-year term.
Interested persons must file in person at the office of the Board of
Education Secretary, 1818 West Worley Street, Columbia, Missouri.
Applications will be received each day, Monday through Friday, from
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until the deadline of 4:30 p.m. on
Friday, June 5 (except Monday, May 25, when the office will
be closed). A special session of the Board of Education will
be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, at the Administration
Building, 1818 West Worley Street, to interview applicants and make
the selection. The new Board of Education member will be sworn in at
a special meeting of the Board of Education at 6:00 p.m. on
Thursday, June 18.
