Board of Education Vacancy


Due to the resignation of Board of Education member Paul Cushing, a vacancy exists on the Columbia Board of Education. Applications are being sought from individuals interested in serving on the Board until April 2013, at which time the person appointed to fill the vacancy may opt to run for reelection for two additional years. In April 2015, which is the expiration date of Mr. Cushing's term, an election will be held for a regular three-year term.

Interested persons must submit an application in person at the office of the Board of Education Secretary, 1818 West Worley Street, Columbia, Missouri. Applications will be received each day, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until the deadline of 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 12.  A special session of the Board of Education will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30 (and a second special session at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, if necessary), at the Administration Building, 1818 West Worley Street, to interview applicants and make the selection. The new Board of Education member will be sworn in at the Board of Education's regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 12.

Applicants must be eligible according to the requirements detailed in Board of Education policy BBBA, "Board Member Qualifications."
